About
At Sally Holdgate Architecture, we are dedicated to creating architecture that offers more than just shelter, it creates belonging, identity, and joy.
Founded by Sally Holdgate in 2020, the practice draws on over two decades of Sally’s experience across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Having held roles as Principal Architect, Design Manager, and business owner, and with personal experience renovating and building her own projects, Sally brings creative leadership, technical expertise, and a real-world perspective that few architects can match. Her work spans residential, public, commercial, heritage, and community sectors, shaped by a design approach that is collaborative, considered, and deeply human.
Sally is supported by a talented group of architectural designers and draughtspeople who support the practice as subconsultants on a project basis, alongside a trusted network of consultants and builders who she has built strong relationships with over many years. Great working relationships with like-minded people, clients, and industry professionals is key, and it makes the job even more enjoyable.
We believe architecture should quietly elevate the everyday. By listening closely to our clients and embracing the unique qualities of each site, we seek to design spaces that feel authentic, enduring, and connected to their place and people.
We recommend engaging the right professionals early, from real estate agents and mortgage brokers to land surveyors, to establish a clear picture of your project's road map at the outset. In today's ever-changing and challenging building environment, this early groundwork can make all the difference to a smooth and successful project.
Through our collaborative approach and strong client relationships, we can work as your lead consultant and creative leader to turn your vision into reality.
“A bold architectural statement turns a public building into a landmark, but it is in the details where the architect becomes the real storyteller.”
